Get your mind out of the gutter…

(Oh, just me?!)

I am talking about Chia seeds. They are the latest ‘super-food’ so of course, I wanted to give them a bash!

They are basically tiny seeds, about the size of poppy seeds but with no flavour. They also, weirdly,  don’t seem to have that ‘seed’ feeling you usually get with poppy seeds or fruit seeds.

I.e. they are kind of soft and don’t seem to get stuck in your teeth as easily. Weird.

Anyway, they are RAMMED with goodness including protein, fibre & omega 3 fatty acids – hello glowing skin!

But what is super-cool about these little beauties, is that they are like little sponges!

They absorb up to 10 times their weight in water, making them great for filling you up & keeping hunger locked up till lunch….

(Sorry, but I am determined to put those knitting nanas out of business ;))

So anyway, I have been fishing around for some recipes and here’s what I have found….

NB – please don’t be put off by the ‘frog spawn’ appearance of soaked chia!!!

Smooth, Creamy Choca Mocha Chia Pudding

OK, what’s not to love?! The great thing about this recipe is is is blended, meaning you don’t get the slightly odd, gelatinous texture of the seeds (doesn’t bother me but I know people who aren’t keen!)

Lemon Poppyseed Bread
